Forms loading on every page (performance issue)

Stop a form loading on every page of your store and slowing the site down.

When the app embed is on, every form's code loads on every page of your store β€” even pages with no form on them. For stores with many forms, this can add unnecessary weight to pages that don't need it.

πŸ” Why This Happens

Turning on the app embed loads the app's script in the page <head> store-wide, so any form works anywhere without extra setup.

The tradeoff: pages with no form still load that script.

Example: A franchise site with 90 location pages, each with its own contact form. With the embed on, all 90 forms' code loads on every single page β€” not just the one with the matching form.

Turn off the app embed, and add each form manually using an app block instead. The form still works exactly the same β€” it just only loads on the pages where you've placed it.

πŸ“Œ Note: Turning off the app embed does not remove your forms. As long as a form's app block is added to a page, that form still shows and works normally there.

Steps

1

Turn Off the App Embed

  • Go to your store admin > click Online Store > Themes > Edit theme

  • Click on the App embeds icon > find Powerful Contact Form Builder (or search "Form Builder")

  • Toggle off > Save

2

Add the Form with an App Block

  1. Open the store backend > go to Online stores > Edit theme > open the page's template

  2. Add section > search "form builder"

  3. Under the Apps tab, select Form

  4. Paste the form's short code into the block

  5. Save

πŸ€” If Your Theme Doesn't Support App Blocks

Not every theme supports app blocks. If yours doesn't, there's no other way to load a form on only one page β€” the app embed's store-wide script is the only option available.
